I first met Shelby and Sergiu back in 2017 when I had the pleasure of capturing their engagement and wedding. Their wedding is still one of the most fun I’ve been too – with a great first look and great reception (check out the blog post for some great wedding style inspo!). So I was thrilled when they reached out this summer and we went back to Cherry Beach, where we took their engagement photos, to photograph their new son. Covid protocols prevented a newborn session, but it didn’t stop us from capturing a precocious 4 month old getting his first taste of beach sand. I love when I get to reconnect with wedding clients and meet their new kids. I love capturing the beautiful continuation of their love story …
Stephanie + Andrew – August – Midland, Ontario
Stephanie + Andrew’s Summer Engagement Session
I knew that Stephanie and Andrew’s engagement session would be special when I first met with them. They are warm and kind and a great connection with each other. Then, I found out the details — we would go to Ivy Ridge … in a designer dress … with a wheat field. Any one of those things would be amazing – but all of it together with a great couple and magic ensued. At one point when they were laying in a wheat field I stopped, laughed, and felt so grateful to be there, in that moment, capturing Steph and Andrew’s electric connection. I cannot WAIT for their beautiful cottage wedding in August.
Krissy + Nathaniel’s Winter Engagement Session
I am always excited when couples want to brave the cold and head out for a winter engagement session. Yes, it can be cold. Yes, my camera (and fingers and nose) will sometimes frost up a bit. But the light and the snow – whether on bare trees or at the beach – is always so pretty. I met up with Krissy and Nate on their property just north of Lafontaine (in Tiny Township). Krissy and I had met when she was a bridesmaid at a wedding last fall and it was so good to meet again. Nate and I just sorted out how we’re related – which is fairly typical when it comes to us French kids from Tiny (for the curious, we landed on second (or third) cousins?). All to say, it was fun and they brought the heat (groan, I know, I had to). Can’t wait for their tree farm wedding this fall!
Mister T turns one …
In late summer, I joined Dee and Derek down at the beach to celebrate baby T’s first birthday with a cake smash. I love being able to follow the story of their family — from their very cold engagement, to their wedding, baby T as a newborn … and now he’s one!
I joined the family early on a Saturday to take advantage of the morning light and an empty beach. We were careful not to mix sand with icing, but otherwise let the cuddles and cake eating unfold in a beautiful, relax, way. This documentary approach let’s us capture the loving moments in between — while still having fun with cake and birthday hats. And I do love a beach in August. So without further delay … take a look at this sweet little man’s face!
